Sex in the champagne room? Not for elite college students, according to a recent study. Apparently, libido's a lot lower in the upper ranks. Intelligence and sexual drive just simply don't mix.

that is a pretty slim sample. I wonder what the breakdown of majors in a larger sample would be like. I do not even see my category, I doubt it is offered at Wellesley. What about other schools and majors not mentioned. The other point is to look at neuroscience and computer science, those are particularly nerdy areas yet they are among the bottom three. I would contend that virginity is not necessarily tied to intelligence, but personality and experiences.

I think your last sentence sums it up best.

Also, I agree that there sample was pretty small.  I think their goal was not to conduct an accurate statistical view of virginity compared to major, but more or less appeal to the stereotype that smarter people have less sex.  I was just watching TV about 30 minutes ago and they had a new special on how teens are deciding whether or not to be sexy or smart.  They see celebrities like Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, etc. and think this isn't just appropriate, but actually the way you should act.  Perhaps there is a correlation.

I agree that the amount of sex that you have probably isn't tied to how smart you are but if there were a larger sample space taken and more detailed questions were asked not just if someone was a virgin or not might give some interesting correlations.
