so...
7 people = 14 legs
7 cats =28 legs
49 kittens = 196 legs
238 legs?

Exactly!  I knew someone would get it.


Answer:

7 people x 2 legs each = 14 legs
7 people x 7 backpacks = 49 backpacks
49 backpacks x 7 cats = 343 cats x 4 legs = 1372 legs
343 cats x 7 kittens = 2401 kittens x 4 legs = 9604 legs

9604 + 1372 + 14 = 10,990 legs.
