My friends brother got to stay in Dubai for business and said that it is just absolutely ridiculous over there. Basically they have so much money from oil and they realize that eventually the oil will run out that they just want to turn this into the greatest destination on earth. Seems to me like it's working. Some of my favorite aspects of the city are:
Burj Al Arab Hotel: (which I believe has to be booked until well into the next century for them to make their money back, and everything that looks like gold or diamonds really is)
and of course the Palm and Earth shaped islands: (notice how big they are in comparison to the hotel)
