Has any else been hearing rumors that Goggle has plans to release their own phone?  I've heard this a few times, but initially dismissed it as fiction.  However there have been a few credible sources who have began talking about the possibility of a goggle phone (BBC, wallstreet journal, engadget).  In addition, goggle has been thinking about bidding on a wireless spectrum, which definitely adds fuel to the fire. http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/tech_law_prof/2007/07/google-may-bid-.html

Supposedly the goggle phone will be free, and be self supporting through the use of adds.  However, I can't see how anyone would want adds on their personal cell phone regardless if its free or not.  I'm not sure who goggle is targeting in this market.

Verizon isn't too happy about it either.

I'm all for this auction.  In the end the people who benefit the most are the consumers.

Exactly...especially since the FCC chairman said that the spectrum must be a "truly open broadband network."

Wow, that guy needs an editor.  Or at least needs to proof read his articles better.

I'm happy with my phone right now, so I'm not worried about all this hype and all.

Yea but how much happier would you be if you could receive free high speed internet access on your phone and lower your bill by a substantial amount
